Aromatherapy for Healing the Spirit: Restoring Emotional and Mental Balance with Essential Oils

Aromatherapy for Healing the Spirit: Restoring Emotional and Mental Balance with Essential Oils

The first aromatherapy guide to synthesize Eastern and Western approaches to restoring emotional and mental health.

• Explains the esoteric and energetic healing properties of 40 essential oils to help restore balance to the body and psyche.

• Provides help for a wide range of common emotional and mental complaints.

• Includes full-color illustrations to guide readers through the massage and acupressure sequences.

In this unique synthesis of Eastern and Western healing approaches, Gabriel Mojay combines the practice of aromatherapy with the wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine. Mojay explains the esoteric and energetic healing properties of 40 essential oils and shows how they can be used to manipulate qi, the body’s vital energy, to stimulate healing from negative emotional and mental states. Some forms of nervous tension, for example, are caused by stagnant qi energy, which can be released with essential oils.

Aromatherapy for Healing the Spirit provides help for a wide range of common emotional and mental complaints–including depression, low energy, lack of concentration, poor memory, anxiety, and low self-esteem. Easy-to-reference charts and full-color illustrations teach simple aromatherapeutic massage and acupressure techniques that restore balance to the body and psyche.

Customer Review: One of the most unique books on aromatherapy available
This is definitely one of my favorite books on aromatherapy, as it includes not only fairly exhaustive information regarding a variety of essential oils and their effects on mood but how these EOs relate to astrology, mythology and Chinese philosophy. The book also discusses various techniques employed in using oils and offers clear verbal and visual descriptions of massage techniques. All in all, I think it’s a fascinating and lovely book (there are quite a few full color photographs and drawings). My only complaint, which isn’t much of a complaint, is that Mojay covered “only” 40 oils. His descriptions of the oils were so intriguing that I would love to see him publish a completely comprehensive work.
Customer Review: Well-written
This book was well-written, and gives a nice overview of the Chinese view of the elements and yin and yang. It uses this information as a basis of how to achieve balance and determine which oils will have the best effect. The book covers a wide range of commonly available essential oils in good detail, including the elements that rule them and both physical and psychological applications. The book’s biggest shortcoming was it’s index. I feel that it should have been more in-depth and have included more of the physical conditions that are listed in each oil’s description so that it would be easier to find which oils treat which disorders.
